The great Australian backyard is no longer a patch of lawn that gets a trim with the Victa on a Sunday, complete with a Hills Hoist, a garage for the family car and a toolshed.

Increasingly, our backyards are becoming an extension of our living spaces, with all the design accoutrements formerly lavished on our interiors, mini-resorts influenced by our travels to exotic destinations or a place to grow healthy fresh produce with the aim of living a more sustainable lifestyle or upping the gourmet factor in our cooking.

All in all, Australians are spending more on their backyards than ever before – on pools, cabanas, decks, paving, outdoor kitchens, designer furniture, pizza ovens, lighting, heating and much, much more, including all the traditional expenditure on plants, gardening supplies, sheds and power tools.

Along the way, Your Fantastic Backyard aims to guide these consumers in their decisions, offering advice and inspiration, keeping ahead of the trends and sourcing all the latest products. Published 10 times per year, Your Fantastic Backyard magazine is available in both print and online versions. Each vibrant and visually inspiring issue features:

  • A celebrity backyard
  • New outdoor products, news and ideas
  • At least two comprehensive, targeted outdoor product features
  • Amazing gardens and outdoor rooms designed by Australia’s leading landscape designers
  • DIY advice and reviews of new tools
  • Gardening and home produce growing advice
  • Recipes for outdoor entertaining
  • A pets column
  • And so much more … including a few just-for-fun surprises!
