Your Fantastic Backyard

Great Flooring Tips

February 20, 2018 by Diana Terry

Are you looking for advice on what to do with flooring? The tips below will help you make the right decisions.

In most parts of Australia, we love the great outdoors. We love to eat out, entertain and enjoy the sun. Enjoying the weather in your own backyard is something we love in Australia and Perth is not an exception here.

The ideal way to celebrate the modern alfresco is to have it designed in such a way that it integrates both the indoor and outdoor areas of the home. In addition, this style must compliment the overall landscape of the home.

Again, the alfresco should have a functional design. This means that the flooring should be pragmatic, attractive and durable.

Types of Alfresco Flooring

Some people prefer slab for outdoor flooring but there are many other viable options. In fact some of these options give you a touch of style and luxury.

The most popular options are:

Brick:
This is a great option if you want a cheap and functional design. Brick is resilient and durable and it saves you a lot of money. Another advantage is that brick gives your flooring a nice and clean look.

Wood

Wood decking is a popular option in some parts of Western Australia because it is a relatively inexpensive option. The problem here is that wood requires a lot of maintenance so it may not quite be a cost effective option at the end of the day.

Natural Stone
This is an excellent option because it is extremely durable and practically maintenance-free. Stone flooring creates a cool and serene appearance and it very popular in many parts of Australia. The only drawback is that stone is a bit on the expensive side.

Concrete
This is another great flooring option. It looks like decorative stone but is not as expensive as stone. For best results, you should go for polished cement concrete  because this option looks great. Concrete tends to crack sometimes but you can easily replace the cracked stones so this is not a problem.

Tile

Tiles are great for high traffic areas and they have other advantages too. You can use different colors to create an attractive design. Just make sure your tiles are slip resistant and you will enjoy this option.
